Why I Chose the Word “Thin” – And Why It Matters
May 11, 2025For years, I danced around the word thin. I avoided it. I substituted words like “healthy,” “fit,” and “strong.” They’re all great words. But none of them were honest—for me.
The truth is, I wanted to become thin. Not for anyone else. Not for society. Not for validation. I wanted it because I wanted it. And for a long time, that felt like a crime. Why? Because somewhere along the way, culture taught us that wanting to be thin was shallow, vain, or even harmful. But here’s the hard truth:
Words aren’t the problem—our definitions are.
When I launched the Becoming Thin podcast and rebranded my live streams, people had strong reactions. Some were all-in. Others were triggered. The word "thin" hit a nerve—and that was exactly the point.
The word thin acts like a mirror. If you’ve carried weight for years, thin might feel like shame. Or a fantasy. Or maybe a goal you've secretly wanted, but never admitted out loud. That’s not the word's fault. That’s the story you attached to it. And that’s where the work begins.
Why “Thin” Was the Right Choice
Let’s be clear: I’m not here to sell starvation or aesthetics above health. That’s why I’ve built this on what I call the Core Four Goals:
-
Becoming Thin
-
Becoming Healthy
-
Becoming Happy
-
Becoming In Shape
Each one matters. Each one stands alone. But thin is the emotional trigger—the one we’re most afraid to say. And that’s exactly why I put it front and center. If you can’t admit your real goals, you’ll never fully go after them.
The Real Battle Isn't Food—It's Identity
You won’t win this battle by counting calories alone. You win by:
-
Changing your identity
-
Feeling your emotions instead of eating them
-
Redesigning your environment and your daily choices
-
Giving yourself permission to want what you want
When I stopped hiding behind vague goals like “get healthy,” everything changed. I finally said it: I want to be thin. And the moment I said it, others started saying it too. Because I gave them permission they’d been waiting for.
But here’s the truth: you don’t need anyone’s permission. You just need your own honesty.
Ready to Own It?
This community isn’t about shame. It’s about ownership. You don’t need to apologize for wanting to look in the mirror and like what you see. You don’t have to hide behind virtue when you know damn well you want to drop the weight andfeel better doing it.
So let’s be bold. Let’s be honest. Let’s be unapologetic in our goals.
This is the Becoming Thin movement. And if you want in, welcome.
